Frequently Asked
Questions

What should I expect at my first appointment? +

Your initial evaluation is typically 60 to 75 minutes. We will do a comprehensive assessment of your movement, strength, and pain, discuss your goals and medical history, and develop a personalized treatment plan together. You will leave with a clear plan and often a home exercise program to get started right away.

Why is PT Kinetics a cash-based practice? +

The cash-based model allows us to focus entirely on your care rather than insurance paperwork and billing requirements. Here is what that means for you as a patient:

  • Full one-on-one sessions with no double or triple booking
  • Treatment frequency based on your condition and goals, not an insurance template
  • No pre-authorizations, no visit limits, and no coverage denials mid-treatment
  • Transparent pricing so you know exactly what you are paying before every session
  • Direct access to care with no referral required in most cases
  • Faster recovery due to more focused, effective treatment per session
Do you accept insurance? +

We do not bill insurance directly. However, we provide detailed superbills that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Many patients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement this way. We recommend calling your insurer before your first visit to ask about your out-of-network physical therapy benefits and deductible.

What is a superbill and how does it work? +

A superbill is an itemized receipt of services that includes diagnosis codes (ICD-10) and procedure codes (CPT codes). You submit it directly to your insurance company as a claim for out-of-network reimbursement. The process is straightforward:

  • Attend your session and pay at the time of service
  • Request a superbill from us at any time
  • Submit the superbill to your insurance provider
  • Receive reimbursement directly from your insurer based on your out-of-network benefits
Do I need a doctor's referral? +

In Florida, you can see a physical therapist without a doctor's referral for up to 30 days through direct access. After that, a physician referral is required to continue treatment. This means you can get started right away without waiting for a doctor's appointment.

What should I wear or bring to my appointment? +

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows access to the area being treated, such as shorts for knee or hip issues, or a tank top for shoulder concerns. Bring any relevant imaging such as X-rays or MRIs, surgical notes or previous PT records, and your completed patient forms if you have not submitted them in advance.

Are telehealth and at-home visits available? +

Yes. We offer both telehealth video sessions and in-home visits for patients who need extra flexibility. Telehealth sessions are available at standard virtual rates. At-home visits may include an additional travel fee based on distance. See the pricing page for full details, or contact us to discuss your situation.

What is the cancellation policy? +

Please cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance when possible. The first late cancellation or no-show (less than 24 hours notice) has no charge. The 2nd and 3rd instances carry a $30 fee each. After 3 total no-shows or late cancellations, same-day scheduling only applies based on availability. Arriving 10 or more minutes late may require rescheduling, and 3 or more late arrivals carry a $20 fee.

Are payment plans available? +

Yes. We offer bundle packages such as buy 5 sessions and get 1 free, or buy 10 sessions and get 1 free plus a free T-shirt. We also have discounts for military, first responders, and CFEA members. If you need additional flexibility, contact us and we will work with you to find a solution that fits your budget.
